Is the Kubota L3410 a suitable machine for mowing 5 acres of rolling hills? I drove it today and found it to be more to my liking than the B2710. I have some pretty steep hills to mow and will be doing light duty farm work (post holes, manure spreading, paddock reseeding, etc.). Will the L3410 be too heavy? How about the industrial tires? Should I stick with the turf tires? Thanks,Mike

Mike,I think the L3410 would make a fine mowing machine for your situation. I use an L3010 HST with Wood's RD7200 on the bigger part of 10 acres of grass. Twenty-five years ago this field was a cornfield. It was then bushhogged three or four times a summer for a few years, then more often for the next fourteen years with 8N and Woods M-5 cutter. Since last summer the RD7200 has been used weekly during the mowing season. It is not fine lawn but looks nice when mowed. The R4 industrial tires work fine. I have two wet spots spring till July and believe the turfs would spin on my hill. Ags would dig it up too much. R4's do tear up some on a hard turn this time of year, but I compensate by making wider turns. I have used the L3010 for two mowings last season and two so far this year and I like it just fine. Plenty of uphill mowing power in Lo or Mid range uphill and comfortable holdback downhill. Also use tractor to move snow, drag logs, and loader work. Turfs in the woodlot mud would not work out. The Kubota with R4's makes a wider but less deep rut than the 8N with ags. Hope this helps.Vince ....

Vince,I am trying to decide between the 3010 and the 3410 HST with a 84" finish mower. Do you feel the 3010HST is powerful enough for the mower or should I spend the extra $ for the 3410? I have 10 acres to mow. Is there a difference in the power needed between a 72" and 84" or between brush hog and finish mower?ThanksKen ....

The Kubota manual does not recommend over 72" rotary-cutter, 60" flail mower, 84" sickle bar and 72" mid-mount for the 3010, 3410, 3710 or 4310. I have a L3010 HST and use a bushog 60" finish mower. The tractor is still new, only have 10 hrs on the meter but pulls my mower even in thick grass with no problems. The R4 tires work very well too. The only time mine left any marks was when I left the Fr. end loader on to cut grass and the ground was soft. ....
